Blue Mule Band

If an eclectic mix of traditional bluegrass and upbeat folk music is your style, Blue Mule Band is for you! Five members, Gail Pearles, Bernie Dotterweich, Dug Stein, Steve Strom and Don Strom, make up this warm and humorous group of musicians. To create their own personalized style, they use numerous instruments including the harmonica, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and rhythm guitar while the bass rounds out the bottom end. Buffalo Bluegrass Youth Ensemble

Buffalo Bluegrass Youth Ensemble is a club open to any  student 11 – 20  who play violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, mandolin, 5 string banjo or Dobro. They play songs by Bluegrass pioneers like Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, Ralph Stanley and Jimmy Martin, and also play music by newer bluegrass influenced artists like Nickel Creek, Old Crow Medicine Show and the Grateful Dead. Instrumentally music choices include traditional Irish and American Fiddle music that has entered the mainstream of American string music.

Public performances may range from appearances in Farmers Markets, Fairs and museums.

The group is run by former Director of the Frontier Central Fiddlers, Mark Panfil. He is a retired public school music teacher, member for the Music in the Schools committee and Foundation for Bluegrass Music in the IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association).

Grandma Butter and Aunty Herb

Grandma Butter, Jolene Hawkins, does butter churning demonstrations, needle felting demonstrations, photography (found at JoHawk Photography) hula hoop weaving for kids and is a dedicated volunteer of the Concord Historical Society specializing in genealogy research at the Lucy Bensley Center. She also volunteers her time for countless Springville organizations including Echoes Through Time Learning Center and is a freelance writer for the Springville Times.

Aunty Herb, Jennifer L.S. Weber, adds the fresh herbs from her garden to the equation as an active gardener and amateur herbalist.  She is a historical reenactor for the French & Indian War, War of 1812 and Revolutionary War time periods.  Also, Jennifer is a freelance writer for the Springville Times and avid blogger at All Things Jennifer and volunteers with many local organizations including the Concord Historical Society, Inclusive Theater of WNY, Leadership Niagara, Old Fort Niagara, Springville Center for the Arts and the Springville-Griffith Community Education Foundation.

Led by teacher and former NYS Fiddle Champion, Heather (Smith) Pennington, these talented kids come from Springville, West Falls, Hamburg and Franklinville, NY. They range from ages 9-16, playing traditional Folk, Bluegrass and Irish tunes. They also compete regularly with classical violin as well! This is one show you will not want to miss!
