Panfil Brothers

The Panfil Family Band have been playing bluegrass music in Western New York in some configuration since Mark and Chris Panfil, Buffalo Music Hall of Fame members began playing together as teenagers in Lackawanna, NY in the early 1970’s. Eventually the band grew to four when Mark’s daughter, Katie and son, Scott started playing out with the brothers. When Katie married multi instrumentalist, Jayson Clark, the family drafted Jay in as banjo player leaving Mark to concentrate on dobro. The most recent addition has been Silas Panfil, Chris’s mandolin playing son from Ithaca, NY.  It is a rare occasion that the six members get together to play a show because they all have and sometimes, still do play with many other bands. Chris is a self taught mandolin, fiddle and guitar player who toured out of Nashville TN for many years. Mark is a nationally recognized instructor on dobro and plays banjo, harmonica and keyboards with local groups with Chris like Creek Bend, Emerald Isle and the Panfil Brothers. Katie Panfil-Clark plays fiddle and mandolin along with her husband, Jay with the Rear View Ramblers and the Irish band, Almost Seamus. Jay and Katie also appear in plays and musicals at Irish Classical Theater, 710 and Musicalfare.
